Alive Still ("the App") is a personal safety check-in app developed by Jordan Blum. Your privacy matters — this policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Your name — Used to personalize alert messages sent to your emergency contacts.
• Emergency contact details — Names, phone numbers, and/or email addresses of people you designate to receive alerts if you miss a check-in.
• Check-in schedule preferences — Your chosen check-in frequency, times, and grace period settings.

Information collected automatically:

• Check-in timestamps — When you check in, so the app can determine if you've missed a scheduled check-in.
• Device identifiers — Anonymous identifiers used for CloudKit sync and push notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Core safety function: To detect missed check-ins and send SMS/email alerts to your emergency contacts via Twilio.
• Sync across devices: Your check-in status and settings are synced via Apple's CloudKit to ensure reliability.
• Notifications: To send you check-in reminders and status updates.
• Subscription management: To manage your Alive Still+ subscription status via Apple's StoreKit.

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the app's safety function.

3. Data Storage & Security

• On-device: Your settings and contact information are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage.
• CloudKit: Check-in status and schedule data are synced via Apple's iCloud infrastructure, protected by Apple's security practices.
• Vercel (backend): Our alert-checking service runs on Vercel and accesses only the minimum data needed to determine if an alert should be sent.
• Twilio: Emergency contact phone numbers and alert messages are transmitted through Twilio's SMS/email service when an alert is triggered. Twilio processes this data solely for message delivery.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

• Your emergency contacts — When you miss a check-in, we send them the alert message you've configured. This is the core purpose of the app.
• Service providers — Apple (CloudKit, StoreKit), Twilio (SMS/email delivery), and Vercel (backend hosting) process data as necessary to operate the app.
• Legal requirements — If required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Your Rights & Choices

• Delete your data: You can delete your account and all associated data by removing the app and disabling iCloud sync for Alive Still in your device settings.
• Pause check-ins: You can pause the check-in system at any time without deleting your data.
• Manage contacts: You can add, edit, or remove emergency contacts at any time within the app.
• Export: Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account and can be accessed through Apple's data portability tools.

6. Children's Privacy

Alive Still is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or posted here. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
